The Frugal Homemaker

…Back after a long move (HI to TX) and hiatus!

Frugal: characterized by or reflecting economy in the use of resources

Homemaker: one who manages a household especially as a spouse and parent

I guess these are the two best words to describe what I will be doing with you throughout this journey.  I love my job in the home and hope to stretch our dollars as thin as I can.  Don’t get me wrong, I love a frivolous treat every now and again, but feel that if I am faithful with the little, the blessings will flow accordingly.

homemade-laundry-soapTo give you an example of my frugally frivolous ways; I make my own laundry soap (directions and video coming soon), but have multiple vacuum sweepers to include a Rainbow, Roomba “Scotty”Shark, and a Dyson V10 Animal (I actually have a vacuuming obsession that will be the topic of an upcoming post.)

We make our own bagels, but have top of the line gadgets throughout the kitchen, including one of my favorites, the KitchenAid Stand Mixer.  I love to save where I can, but I enjoy all the creature comforts to make it fun and easybug2qsyptwelsebwfsmpgg

My husband teases me that I save so much money he is going broke!  While this blog will show you countless ways to save, I will also show you fun ways to spend those hard earned dollars.  Come along as we learn scrimpimp to spend, or saving money for splurging.  I think you’ll enjoy the journey.

Let’s get started!  Soap first, I’m down to my last two quarts!
